Numerology Predictions getting off square one

No one knows for certain where numerology first got its start or who first thought up the idea of making numerology predictions for people.  Most likely it developed from our first experiments with numbers and a scholarly desire to search out hidden meanings in the world around us.  There seems to be a very spiritual element to numerology in it’s attempt to give higher meaning to the material world.

History of Numerology

A few numerologists believe that numerology got its start in the Jewish mysticism of Kabbalah over ten thousand years ago.  This is about the same time the Great Pyramids of were built.  It is known that about 100 years ago in the early 1900s, a woman named L. Dow Balliett, from Atlantic City, New Jersey wrote a series of books on numerology predictions. She gives credit to an ancient philosopher for her development of modern numerology.  About 2,500 years ago the great Greek Philosopher and Mathematician Pythagoras lived and worked avidly on the mysteries of the world around him.  There is no definite example of numerology being developed or worked on by Pythagoras, but it’s possible that some of his work may have influenced Mrs. Balliett’s ideas.

Her work was publicized with the aid of one Dr. Julia Seton, helping to popularize the practice of making numerology predictions.  Later on, books by Florence Campbell, Juno Jordan, and Matthew Goodwin helped further the popularity of numerology.

Numerology and the Modern World

Numerology is the science of using numbers to find personal vibrations for people, places, things or events.  These vibrations are then interpreted or compared to find hidden meaning in them, including their true purpose.

This follows the idea that everything vibrates to a certain frequency, much like astrology.  This frequency isn’t assigned by the use of numerology predictions or other esoteric sciences, but instead is already there waiting to be found.

Modern science is courting this idea with many theories about the Universe.  We are already certain that everything is made up of molecules and particles, like atoms and even smaller components that each vibrates at different frequencies.  Now, we’re focusing on the idea of String Theory, which looks at even smaller yet particles that are like strings and make up the basic fabric of everything in the Universe.

Numerology predictions seem to be made of deceptively simple steps.  A simple addition or subtraction is all that’s needed to find your personal numbers.  However, it seems to connect to something deeper and meaningful of which we all are a part.
